Meet the Founder

My name is Lakshita Ganesh Kumar and I am a second-year undergrad Honors Computer Science Engineering and Statistics student at the University of Connecticut.

Online authenticity is a rarity, and it is common to see a lack of representation and tons of self-hate, especially when it comes to fashion and personal style. 

That is why I created Stylistic.

Stylistic is an online community and social media app that allows you to gain authenticity and confidence in everything from fashion to self-love and acceptance.

hey! i’m Lakshita — the founder of Stylistic.

growing up as a brown girl in a mostly white town, i constantly felt like the odd one out. i didn’t look like anyone around me, and over time, that made me believe something was wrong with the way i looked. i hated my curly hair. my skin. my clothes. everything. and it wasn’t because there was something wrong — it was because i never saw anyone who looked like me. and social media didn’t help. it was filled with picture-perfect posts that never reflected who i was — or who so many of us are. the truth? representation isn’t missing because we don’t exist. it’s missing because we don’t feel empowered to show up as ourselves. think about this: we only see the “perfect” bodies and “perfect” outfits because those are the people who feel safe to post.

but what if we felt that way too?

what if everyone felt confident enough to share their real, authentic selves everyday? a collection of real content from real people would change everything: we’d finally have a platform that feels like us.

that’s why I built Stylistic.
